Mysuru, 5 February, 2015:  Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled, the only school in Karnataka for visually challenged girls run by NR Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the NR group, makers of Cycle PURE Agarbathies, recently celebrated its 27th Annual day at the school premises in Metagalli, Mysore. The celebration was presided over by Sri. R. Guru, Chairman of NR Group and inaugurated by Sri N. Mahadevu, Deputy Director from Zilla Parishad, Mysore for Project Assessment & Evaluation. Smt. Radha, Deputy Director for Women & Child Welfare Department and Sri H. R. Srinivas District Welfare Office for Disabled were the chief guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Mahadevu, Deputy Director from Zilla Parishad, Mysuru for Project Assessment & Evaluation said “it gives me immense pleasure to be a part of this celebration. Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled is one of the few institutes in collaboration with the government that are continuously working towards the rehabilitation of visually challenged students”.

Commenting on the occasion, Sri. R. Guru, Chairman, NR Group said “our society’s perspective towards the visually challenged children has changed over the years and there are plenty of opportunities open for these children to lead their life independently. Children should be provided with appropriate education to enable them to plan their life.”

The event showcased the talent of the differently abled students. The highlight of the function was spectacular display of dance and drama. The Bharathanatya dance and dramas in Kannada and English by the children received much appreciation and were enjoyed by all present.

Apart from the different cultural performances, the event was also marked by the felicitation ceremony. The awards for excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities awards were given away by Smt. Radha, Deputy Director for Women & Child Welfare Department.

Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled [RMSD]

Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled [RMSD] is a free residential school for visually challenged girls from economically disadvantaged background. The school works towards empowering the children with academics and confidence. It is the only school in the Karnataka State exclusively set up for visually challenged girl children. Students who have passed out from the school are today working at various institutions and leading their life with dignity which stands testimonial to the noble cause initiated by the NR group.
