Mysore, August 22, 2014:  Cycle Pure Agarbathies, the world’s largest incense stick manufacturer and the franchisee of Mysore team today formally appointed Manish Pandey as the captain of Mysore Warriors cricket team for the upcoming KPL tournament.

Speaking on his appointment as captain, Mr. Manish Pandey, said, “I feel honoured to have been given the mandate to lead Mysore Warriors.  We have a great team in Mysore Warriors and am confident that we will be able to live up to the expectations of our supporters.”

Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Arjun Ranga, Managing Director, Cycle Pure Agarbathies said, “Manish Pandey is a great cricketer. Apart from being known for his aggressive batting style, he is a good team player, making him the inevitable choice for captaincy. We are confident that his batting prowess and his profound experience with the various formats of the game will be an added advantage for the team.”

A right handed batsman, Manish Pandey is best known for his performances in IPL. He is the first Indian to score a century in IPL. A member of the victorious Indian team that played in the 2008 under-19 world cup held in Malaysia, Manish is one of the most sought after in the  IPL circuits. He has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors.  In 2014 IPL he was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders and was awarded the Man of the Match trophy in the finals of IPL- season 7.

Modelled on the lines of IPL, the 20-20 tournament is organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and will witness competition between 7 teams. Started in 2009, the Karnataka Premier League is now in its third season will commence on August 28th 2014. The first phase of the tournament will be hosted at Mysore followed by Bangalore. The finals will be held in Hubli on 12th September, 2014.
